We have been told that Project 1 is a series of 3 Self Portraits. My first reaction was - No, no, no! I don’t want to do that. I’m older now. Have rarely liked photos of me for some years now. Vanity? Insecurity? I couldn’t put it out of my mind. How could I do it? Clearly there has to be an online presence. Clearly I’m not young. So be an adult. I can do it. Slowly ideas start emerging. They seem to have a life of their own. I’ve even tried a selfie with my Iphone just to see what different angles look like. Still prefer my DSLR though. Although a Nikon D800 is cumbersome, it is a lovely camera to use and so versatile with the variety of lenses I have. Hmm! First images with the iphone weren't bad though. Will experiment further.
The possibilities are popping up all the time. Now I need to see if I am technically proficient enough with both the camera and the software to achieve some of them.
In the meantime here's a photo of myself I took in Italy when the scene was crying out to have someone on the seat and I was all alone. Very glad I took the tripod. Distracting skylight at top of image, but didn't want to crop the image down any further or I would lose the sense of depth in the narrow laneway.
